From 26 September 2026 to 10 January 2027, the Aargauer Kunsthaus in Aarau dedicates an exhibition to the creative potential of artificial intelligence. The group show Künstliche Kreativität (Artificial Creativity) brings together around 15 positions and is organized in cooperation with the Haus der elektronischen Künste (HEK) in Basel.
The range is wide: the AI system Botto, projects by Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst, Tobias Gutmann's Face-o-mat portrait machine, an AI-generated video by Esther Hunziker and the VR work HALLUC by Studer/van den Berg.
In the exhibition rooms, very different registers sit side by side: a machine that draws portraits, virtual reality, video imagery generated by AI and the output of the AI system Botto. The common thread is the question of what creativity means when part of the work comes from the machine.
The vernissage takes place on 25 September 2026 from 18:00 to 22:00. An accompanying series of AI talks and panels runs through January 2027 and brings the themes of the show to the stage.
- The Aargauer Kunsthaus is located at Aargauerplatz, 5001 Aarau.
- Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00, Thursdays until 20:00, closed Mondays.
- Admission is CHF 17 for adults, CHF 12 for students, CHF 10 with an IV pass, CHF 5 with Kulturlegi and CHF 10 per person for groups of 10 or more; children up to 16 enter free, and entry is free for everyone on Thursdays from 17:00 to 20:00.
