Ever is Over All. Pipilotti Rist

From October 1, 2026 to January 17, 2027, the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao presents Pipilotti Rist's two-channel audio video installation “Ever is Over All” (1997) in Gallery 103. The presentation is curated by Mikel Onandia.

The projection follows a woman strolling down a street, smashing car windows with a tropical flower as she goes. Her walk is set to a slowed soundtrack by Anders Guggisberg, and it is the tension between the delicate flower and the shattering glass that gives the work its pull.

The installation fills Gallery 103 and unfolds on two projections. The woman moves along the street at an unhurried pace, the slowed music trails behind her, and every so often another car window gives way.

The piece runs at the tempo of its soundtrack, so it is worth standing still for a few minutes. The contrast between the calm, flowery gesture and the sound of breaking glass does the rest.
