About the exhibition

Gijón

'Calculando Imperios: una genealogía de la tecnología y el poder desde 1500' is a permanent mural (24 x 3 metres) by Vladan Joler and Kate Crawford in the vestibule of LABoral Centro de Arte.

The work won the EU S+T+ARTS prize for innovation in science and technology driven by the arts and is on view from 31 January 2025 to 31 December 2027.

The printed map is a visual manifesto: it charts the entanglements of technology and power since 1500, helping to situate where we stand amid technological systems that are ever more complex, interconnected and automated.
