About the exhibition

Santiago de Compostela

'Galiverso. Explora el cielo' is a free virtual reality experience at the Museo Centro Gaiás of the Cidade da Cultura in Santiago de Compostela, launched to coincide with the total solar eclipse visible from Galicia in August 2026.

Virtual reality, astronomy and history combine in an educational experience for all audiences, produced by the Cidade da Cultura with the Instituto Galego de Física de Altas Enerxías (USC).

In the 'Explora el cielo' mode a virtual capsule carries you across some of Galicia's purest night skies: the Pena Trevinca observatory, Galicia's first Starlight destination, the birthplace of astronomer Ramón María Aller Ulloa in Lalín, the Dolmen de Axeitos and the 'mar de ardora' at the beach of Louro in Muros; the journey doubles as a call against light pollution.

'Experimenta o eclipse' focuses on the Sun-Earth-Moon system, developed with the IGFAE of the University of Santiago de Compostela.
