Leipzig

ANTARCTICA is a 360 degree panorama by Yadegar Asisi, on show inside the Panometer Leipzig, a former gasometer. The round picture stands 32 metres high and covers around 3,500 square metres. It shows the Antarctic coast, with ice above the waterline and marine life such as whales, seals and penguins below.

The panorama premiered on 24 January 2026 and, according to the official site, the show runs until at least the beginning of 2028. A themed exhibition accompanies the round picture.

Inside the former gasometer, the panorama surrounds visitors across around 3,500 square metres and rises 32 metres high. Above the waterline stretches the ice of the Antarctic coast; below it, the scene continues underwater with whales, seals and penguins.

A themed exhibition accompanies the round picture and provides additional background. For the visit, allow 1.5 to 2 hours.
