Rome

AEGYPTUS. Dal Nilo al Mediterraneo. Oasi e deserto in epoca romana is an archaeology exhibition in Rome devoted to the Roman presence in the oases of the Egyptian Western Desert, from the 1st century BC to the 5th century AD. It is hosted in the Aula Ottagona of the Baths of Diocletian, part of the National Roman Museum.

The exhibition is built around a large immersive crossmedia installation combining video art by Studio Convertino, digital reconstructions and animations, together with I Doni della Grande Oasi, a short film created with artificial intelligence by Riccardo Boccuzzi.

Inside the Aula Ottagona, the installation surrounds visitors with images of oasis and desert: the video art by Studio Convertino, the digital reconstructions and the animations retrace the world of the Roman oases of Egypt.

The installation is completed by I Doni della Grande Oasi, the short film generated with artificial intelligence by Riccardo Boccuzzi, while the monumental ancient hall of the Baths of Diocletian gives the visit an archaeological setting of its own.
