Amsterdam

Cinekid Festival is an annual Amsterdam festival for children's film and digital culture, held during the autumn school holiday. The 2026 edition runs from 10 to 25 October, with its main location at Pathé Amsterdam Noord on Asterweg 15 from 10 to 16 October and activities at over 40 locations across the Netherlands until 25 October.

At the centre of the festival is the MediaLab, a hands-on exhibition of interactive media art made for children: AI, VR and AR experiences, playable games, interactive projections, robots and digital art workshops.

In the MediaLab children try the installations themselves instead of watching them from the side. They step into VR and AR worlds, play games made for their age group, steer interactive projections and meet robots that respond to what they do.

Digital art workshops run alongside the installations and give children the chance to create something of their own rather than only operate it. For parents it is a playful first encounter with media art and AI, explained in a language children understand.
