La Mecánica de la Verdad (LAB 5, Medialab Matadero)
02 · About the exhibition
Madrid
La Mecánica de la Verdad is the exhibition component of LAB 5, the annual Medialab Matadero program that investigates how artificial intelligence, data and cognitive technologies are reshaping the perception of truth. In its fifth edition, the program moves into Nave Una at Matadero Madrid.
The exhibition opens with the inauguration on 15 October 2026 and remains on view until 13 December 2026. Around it, the wider LAB 5 program unfolds in stages, with workshops running through October, a prototyping residency from 12 to 25 November and the OpenLAB festival from 26 to 28 November 2026.
At stake is a question that concerns anyone who consumes images, texts and data today: what still counts as true when a growing share of what we see is produced by machines. The exhibition brings that question into the hall and looks at the mechanisms through which AI and cognitive technologies steer human perception.
The visit gains from the formats around it: the workshops, the residency and the OpenLAB festival all work on the same question, and the exhibition at Nave Una is its most visible public moment.
