HamburgThe UBS Digital Art Museum in Hamburg, at around 6,500 square metres, is set to become Europe's largest museum for digital art. For its opening, announced for 2026, the house presents teamLab Borderless, the walkable digital art world of the Tokyo art collective teamLab.
The name is the concept: borderless means the works ignore room boundaries. Projections travel from wall to wall, react to visitors and keep recombining into new pieces.
Instead of framed pictures you experience light, motion and sound as architecture: flower fields that wilt under your steps and bloom again, waterfalls that recalculate their flow around visitors, luminous sculptural objects. No two visits are the same, because the installations respond in real time to the people moving through them.
teamLab is one of the most collected digital art collectives in the world; Borderless editions in Tokyo and Shanghai rank among the most visited exhibitions anywhere. The Hamburg outpost is the first location of this scale in Europe.
