BerlinThe Zeiss-Grossplanetarium in Berlin is Europe's most modern science theatre: a 23 metre dome projected by the ZEISS UNIVERSARIUM IX, sounded by a spatial 49 loudspeaker system, with fulldome shows and 3D cinema.
It belongs to the Stiftung Planetarium Berlin; the sister house Planetarium am Insulaner is currently closed for renovation, which makes the Zeiss house the city's centre for dome programmes.
The programme spans astronomy and culture: science shows with live narration, children's programmes and music evenings where albums are scored onto the dome. The difference from cinema is immersion in every direction: above, sideways, with sound from every corner.
Fulldome shows run in German, with individual slots in English: the language is noted for each show in the programme list.
