The best immersive and AI exhibitions in Berlin

No German city has a denser scene for digital and immersive art than Berlin. Between Spree and Panke you will find permanent immersion shows, galleries for algorithmic art, a planetarium with dome cinema and two festivals that rebuild the city every autumn.

DARK MATTER: chronicler of an era

The constant of the scene is DARK MATTER on Blankenburger Chaussee: several dark halls filled with light, laser and sound installations, whose current iteration FOREST SEASONS runs until 4 October 2026. Entry 16 to 18 euros, booked through the official site or partners. It is the Berlin experience that comes closest to a total immersive work of art.

AI art: where the machine's mask sits

The most singular address for AI art are the AuraLabs: "AI meets art" is a small, charming exhibition about neural networks and generative systems, running since autumn 2025, asking questions instead of delivering effects. Immersive museums and studios

IKONO in the heart of the city is an immersive play and photo museum, less a lesson than a playground for the smartphone. The DeJa Vu Museum near Museum Island combines analogue illusion with digital rooms, entry from 17 euros. In autumn 2026 the Lauren Greenfield retrospective at Fotografiska joins in, an immersive photography show about social media and their consequences.

Planetarium and free of charge

The Zeiss-Grossplanetarium in Prenzlauer Berg is the cheapest immersion in town: 7 to 16 euros for dome shows about science and music. Completely free yet impressive is Das Universum zum Anfassen, the planetarium's offer for anyone who wants to grasp astrophysics with their own hands.

Autumn: festivals take over the city

From 9 to 13 September 2026 the Berlin Art Week turns galleries and project spaces into a citywide programme, always with a strong digital component. From 9 to 18 October the Festival of Lights follows, playing projections across the city's facades: free to watch, with paid events at the margins. In spring 2027 the circle closes with transmediale, the oldest festival for art and digital culture.
