About the exhibition

Gijón

'La Sociedad Automática' at LABoral Centro de Arte in Gijón is an exhibition by Félix Luque Sánchez in collaboration with Iñigo Bilbao Lopategui, Damien Gernay and Vincent Evrard on automation and artificial intelligence.

The project is coproduced with iMAL, Europalia and the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles and runs from 17 April to 17 October 2026.

The starting point is a question by Jean Baudrillard: the age-old fantasy of a world that works without us. Industrial robots perform repetitive tasks with near-perfect precision, without hesitating or tiring.

From Taylorism to contemporary AI, the exhibition traces how the utopia of automation, having transformed industrial production, now takes hold of our thinking, our judgement and our memory.
